Streetlight Manifesto is my favorite band of all time. It's pretty safe to say that Thomas Kalnoky is a musical genius. His horn lines drive this music like no other album out there. If you don't like horns this isn't for you, but you should still listen to it because you'll learn to like it anyway. The drumming really is the backbone, and is pretty much off wall the entire time. The guitar work is simplistic, but effective at it's purpose, and still never boring. Bass lines drive the melody exactly as they should. This is the ska band of decade, no other band reaches it musically or popularity wise. If you like ska, this band will do things to you never thought possible. If you don't like ska, the same usually applies.

Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse- Dark Night of the Soul

It's an all-star album featuring James Mercer of The Shins, The Flaming Lips, Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals, Jason Lytle of Grandaddy, Julian Casablancas of The Strokes, Frank Black of the Pixies, Iggy Pop, Nina Persson of The Cardigans, Suzanne Vega, Vic Chesnutt, David Lynch, and Scott Spillane of Neutral Milk Hotel and The Gerbils.

Empire! Empire! (I Was A Terrible Band Name) - What It Takes to Move Forward

Bomb The Music Industry! - Album Minus Band

The band is a DIY ska punk that releases all their music for free (donation based) on their label Quote Unquote Records. The music is a riotous, blazingly fast punk with brilliant spots of ska, folk, and synth rock. There's more energy in this album than a pool full of redbull with a 1000 energy pills dissolved in it. This is a good thing.
Capdown - New Revolutionaries [EP]
A small 3 song tidbit of this wonderful UK ska-punk band. Catchy guitar riffs define this powerful band that ranges from halftime ska beats to double time punk. I will be uploading more.
Blue Meanies - Kiss Your Ass Goodbye
Reigning from chicargo, Blue Meanies psycho-ska, infused with jazz and funk, isn't your standard 10 piece ska-punk band. Catchy horn lines, funky bass, delicious drumming, carnival keys, and insane lyrics (washing your hair with grandmas ashes, anyone?) brought together in one little package. One of the weirdest albums I've got. With never a boring moment, it's definitely one of my favorites.
psycho-ska this shit

Touche Amore / La Dispute
Much anticipated split from two of the better bands on the scene right now. La Dispute side rules about as hard as you'd expect and the Touche Amore side holds its own quite respectably. The only downside is that the whole thing is under nine minutes :( But if you want more, I'll also throw in La Dispute's opus full-length and Touche Amore's only (to my knowledge) LP.
here ya go

Ampere - Various Shit

One of the first screamo bands I got into, short, fast, minute-long songs that still manage to feel epic. Band fuckin' rules. Here's their full-length and a compilation of shit they released on other splits and EP's.
Worker Bee - Divorce Your Legs

Sweet debut LP from an cool post-rock band from my area. Saw this band open for Maps & Atlases and Tera Melos a few years ago and I've been listening to this album since then. I'm not usually into this style either but something about this has stuck with me.
do it to it
Pianos Become the Teeth - Old Pride

My favorite '09 skramz fo sho. Super inspired lyrics, sweet guitars and nuts drumming.
check it outtt
The Fall of Boss Koala - Reference Points

Awesome EP to start out a (hopefully) equally awesome blog. If you don't have this already,
enjoy :)
